Sugar Rush!

I’m sure most ofย us are familiar with the “instant energy” a mouthful of chocolate candy or a bite of our favorite cupcake can bring, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, I can say I’ve had more than my fair share of “energy boosters” this week when I became the (very) happy recipient of these “sweet” treats…

“Say it with chocolates” seems an understatement… ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is how the Arabs in this part of the world say “Ramadan Kareem” (or any major event, for that matter)ย  – with sinfully delicious, creamy, ย assorted chocolates!ย From chocolate-covered pistachios to melt-in-your-mouth milk chocolate balls to chewy white nougat with pistachios – name it, we got it!!!ย  Yum-o, indeed! ๐Ÿ˜†

Up-close and delicious! Be still, my sugar-craving heart… ๐Ÿ˜†

This is the second year that we have been given this treat from hubby’s generous employer.ย  As a bonus, it comes with an equally usefulย container that we can re-use for other purposes.ย  This year’s loot came in a mosaic-tiled tray that I now use as a fruit tray… What can I say, it must be true that chocolate releases the “feel good” hormone – hahaha! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Needless to say, I wasn’t the only one thrilled with this yummy gift! ๐Ÿ™‚ Marga getting ready to “attack” (see that “sweet” twinkle in her eye?)

My second sweet treat came as a pleasant surprise – through cyberspace! We normally do not visit our old “home” anymore so it totally caught us off-guard to receive a message like this…

I have followed your stories for quite some time now and I even checked the Yahoo 360 entries. Actually, I have read ALL your posts.

My name is Twinkieย XXXXXX and my husband is also an expat. We have one daughter and I am also a stay at home mom. We have been relocated in the UK since July 2006.

You both inspire me. My husband would most of the time catch me teary eyed because of laughing too hard or simply being touched by the love that you give each member of your family. In short, you guys rock!!!

We were again simply amazed that we have managed to meet yet another wonderful person through the net! And her message – oooh-la-la! It just “moved” us too – so simple yet so heartfelt. ๐Ÿ™‚ Who would’ve thought that writing about our experiences here in the desert could actually “inspire” people? Thanks so much, Twinkie! You really made our day week! And thank you for “living up” to your equally sweet name!

Care forย a “Twinkie”, anyone? Click here.

These, ladies and gents, are my “just desserts” for the past week. Hope you enjoyed sharing them with me and may all our “feel good” hormones kick in the coming weeks (with or without chocolates!). ๐Ÿ˜‰

your stories and keith’s are really inspiring and very entertaining. i swear, hindi ako nambobola. i love reading your posts too. i don’t comment often (i don’t nga ba?) but i read all your posts. they make me smile.

and whenever you post pictures of marga like this, i smile even more. such a cutie!! it does look like she’s about to attack the chocolates, napigilan mo lang for one picture, haha! they really celebrate occasions with chocolates no? or different types of sweets for that matter. ang dameng nagkalat na mga chocolate stores here and in bahrain, i bet kahit jan sa saudi! and they’re not cheap ha! galaxy or kitkat, masaya na ako e ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Gracita! Never mind that you don’t comment often…what matters is that when you do, you make sure that it’s heartfelt and with lots of substance naman, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks again for the kind words.

Yup, you said it, mga chocoholics pala mga Arabo – hahaha! The sheer variety of chocolate stores here seems enough proof of it – and yes, they aren’t cheap too! ๐Ÿ˜› Kami rin ni Keith masaya na sa Galaxy/Jewels especially so now when they come out with these very nice “Ramadan-inspired” lamp containers.

Nice to hear from you again. Take care!

Hon, don’t you just wish that every month was Ramadan if only for the chocolates. I really can’t wait to see what we get next year.

Definitely the chocolates… and the shortened hours! Hahaha! ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. Whoa!

Whoa # 1: Akala ko ube pastillas ang nasa balot. Nag-laway agad ako! Tapos napakaganda ng pagkaka-ayos ng mga chocolates. Ang melts in your mouth ang ultimate “Yum-o” description ng chocolate for me.

Whoa #2: Swak na swak ang picture ni Marga with tha chocolate platter! Pwede na ilagay sa Edsa ang litrato na yan for billboard. Bibili ang buong angkan namin! She’s so lovely!

Ate Pinky! Sobrang na-shock ako! Thank you at na-isama pa ako. Wala ‘yan versus sa 7-days straight na pag-basa ko ng blogs ninyo na sobrang high ako kasi ang saya-saya talaga and super informative… Thankful talaga ako to land in your blogs together with Ate Weng’s. I will tell the story about it real soon. Hint – it’s connected with my faith in Him and you guys were obviously His angels.

So there. Di pa rin maalis ngiti ko! =)

Glad to be able to put a smile on your face, Twinx! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Take care!

    *mental shake*

anyway, hindi ko ito naisulat sa kabila kasi nga na-sidetrack ako ng chocolates (no kidding!) pero ako talaga, i never cease to be amazed with what the world wide web can do. lumiliit ang mundo as strangers into friends. ๐Ÿ™‚

may you continue to inspire, pinky! *muah*

Hmmm…let’s just say I am able to (unknowingly) inspire because I was inspired (by blogging gurus like you!) first! Thanks so much, Mama Mee! Mwah! ๐Ÿ˜‰
